Silent Valley makes up the core area of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The land is internationally renowned for being an eco-tourism destination. One of the last untouched tracts of South Western Ghats Mountain Rainforests and Tropical Moist Evergreen Forests in India, Silent Valley is affluent when it comes to bio-diversity. The park is famed for its rich and rare flora and fauna. It is home to one of the largest populations of the endangered lion-tailed macaques.
