The word Mayiladumpara translates into ‘the rock where peacocks dance’; and for sure, Mayiladumpara won’t disappoint you when it comes to seeing one of the most beautiful birds on Earth rejoicing in their natural environment. The 500 - hectare sanctuary is located inside the forest area and one has to take a trek through the dense jungle to reach the spot. Once you reach here, you will be greeted by the picturesque sight of hundreds of peacocks roaming around freely. Dawn and dusk are the best visiting times in Mayiladumpara and if you are a shutterbug, you will for sure be able to capture some splendid photographs.
