Situated in the serene foothills of the majestic Nelliyampathy Hills, the dam is built in the Pothundi village across Meenichiladipuzha and Padipuzha rivers.
Around 5,470 hectares of land in Palakkad benefits from the irrigation provided by Pothundi Dam. The dam caters to the drinking needs of a number of villages spread all over the region. The dam also forms a reservoir that covers an area of 30 km. There is a beautifully landscaped garden at the entrance of the dam that welcomes visitors with stunning views of the locale.
